All the classrooms read books about and did projects on historical figures from the African American community. As a school we focused on the art of Alma Woodsey Thomas. Some classrooms did a related group project. Others did individual projects. Classrooms also listened to Jazz and talked about famous Jazz musicians like Louis Armstrong. Astronaut Mae C. Jemison was highlighted in the Toddler Room.
